Off-Duty Trench

Two things every girl needs in her closet: a good quality trench coat in a neutral shade & stripes. I know, I know, stripes have been done to death. But come on ladies, you know they’re so versatile & go with everything, they’re practically a neutral now! I wore this look out to breakfast on the weekend at my favourite local cafe & it was the perfect thing for a morning of sitting in the still-warm Sydney winter sunshine! Layers are always a good idea for a Sydney winter weekend – whilst it’ll be chilly in the mornings & evenings, all you really need some sunny days is a good trench coat to beat the icy breeze & you’re set!

Why You Need Stripes In Your Life

What’s that one fashion stereotype every girl wants to look like? French of course! There’s something so quintessentially stylish & at the same time effortless when you think of how French girls dress. I feel like I want to do an entire series of blog posts on how to channel that je ne sais quoi but for now, just know that adding in a horizontally striped, Breton-style top will give major marks in the style stakes. I love to purchase mine from actual French labels like this Petit Bateau one but Uniqlo stocks a huge range in every colour & style under the sun at a great price point!

What to wear stripes with?

Uh…everything girlfriend! I love to pair striped tops with skinny jeans & ballet flats or over-the-knee boots in winter. They also look great tucked into a little black skirt with black tights. Don’t just think tops either – a striped dress is one of the more versatile dresses you can own! Dress it down with black tights & flats or swap them out for glittery heels for a night out on the town!
