Last Sunday I had the amazing opportunity to go to brunch with a whole heap of other bloggers, designers, illustrations, PR reps & other lovely ladies & gents from the fashion & design scene in Sydney. It was put on by the absolutely lovely & gorgeous Nat (seen above with her utterly fantastic peroxide hair taking a photo of me taking a photo!) from Interlaced Media. We had brunch at this delightful little cafe in Kings Cross called Bloody Mary’s. The cafe itself is quite small & narrow but Nat had organised for us to have the entire covered courtyard out the back all morning! The courtyard is lovely. You feel as though you’re completely outside but a covered roof keeps you dry from any drizzling spring rain. Wisteria covers the rafters & there were stunning bunches of white flowers hanging over us. After having two ridiculously good long blacks & meeting all of the lovely attendees it was time for some food!
I went for the granola with fresh berries & vanilla bean yoghurt & good lord, I wasn’t disappointed in the least! It was so unbelievably tasty! The granola was a perfect mix of grains & nuts, all toasted to perfection – in fact, I even saw bags of it for sale, so it must be pretty darn popular! The berries were so fresh & flavourful & that yoghurt? Holy vanilla beans, Batman! It was to. Die. For. Yum!
Plus it was all so pretty! I had bloggers leaning over me with their iPhones & camera to snap a photo of it! The other brunch dishes looked equally scrumptious – there was a smoked salmon bagel that looked fingerlicking good, a towering stack of pancakes with maple syrup & bacon, & a hangover cure that was practically teeming with food!
It was so lovely sitting around & chatting to everyone, finding out what everyone did & what aspect of the industry they were involved in. I noticed two lovely ladies moving from coffees to bellinis & thought that was a great idea!
This was Nat’s first event in Sydney & I thoroughly do hope she plans on doing more! It was beyond lovely meeting so many friendly, intelligent & creative women & men! We had two girls from Dress For Success come to brunch as well to talk about their charity & what they do. Dress For Success collects gently used corporate clothing to give to less fortunate men & women who are looking to break into the workplace for the first time or after a long absence & who may not have the means to dress well for their job interviews. I would have loved to donate clothing but my own office ran a Dress For Success drive a few months ago! If you want to know more about what they do, then definitely check out their website & donate!
We spent the rest of the morning (& the start of the afternoon!) ordering more bellinis, chatting up a storm & popping out to the back lane to take outfit photos of each other! It was a blogger’s dream brunch! This wisteria covered gate featured in many photos, including my own!
Thank you Nat for organising such a lovely day! I hope to see you & all of those lovely ladies & gents again sometime soon!
