If you’re like me, you’re continually saving pins of beautiful superfood smoothie bowls on Pinterest & ordering them when you go out for breakfast. There’s something so comforting in eating something that tastes absolutely delicious but is also so good for you! I wanted to make one at home & I’m very proud to say that I was pretty successful! I wanted to share this recipe with you, it’s so easy to throw together if you have time in the morning & it’s really simple to prepare all the ingredients the night before if you’re strapped for time first thing.
Here’s what you’ll need:
1/2 cup almond milk
1 tsp cacao powder
1/2 cup frozen mixed berries
Handful of spinach
1 scoop of your favourite protein powder, I use this one
2 Tbsp cacao nibs
2 Tbsp quinoa crisps (just pop the quinoa in the oven for around 15 minutes so they crisp up)
1 Tbsp chia seeds
1 Tbsp coconut flakes
1/2 banana, sliced
Now, for the crazy easy part of this recipe – actually making it! Throw all of the smoothie ingredients into your blender & blend it good!
Pour it into your bowl & that’s the majority of the “cooking” done! Now it’s time to make those neat little lines of toppings.
Up to you how you want to line up your toppings, I like to keep sweet things next to the more bitter things but it’s totally up to you. Make it beautiful!
The benefits of this smoothie bowl are insane. Cacao & blueberries are loaded with antioxidants & cacao especially has tons of iron, magnesium & calcium. Spinach has a heap of vitamins & is so good for your first thing in the morning. Have a go at making this breakfast next time you want to feel like the healthiest version of yourself!
