Rolling Stones Tee

Major confession time: my favourite band of all time is the Rolling Stones. I got so into them when I was a teenager at school, bought every record & biography, watched every film & just wanted to be in a band of my own. They were pretty much the whole reason why I studied music & played in bands for years. So when they finally rolled into Sydney in 2014 I knew I would have to be there. But, here’s the funny story. When the tickets first went on sale, we couldn’t get any! I literally cried all day (yes it was a workday & yes I cried at work over the Stones!). I was so upset, I figured this was the last tour where they’d still be pretty amazing.

About two weeks later we went on holiday to Thailand & one of the Mothership’s friends called – a new batch of tickets were going on sale & she could buy three for us! Well, to say we jumped at the chance was an understatement. It was the best gig I’ve ever been to in my life. Honestly, they were amazing. We were on Keith Richards’ side of the stage, Mick Taylor was touring Australia at the same time & played with them (including a twenty minute version of ‘Midnight Rambler’). It was the best.

I knew I had to commemorate the moment when I finally saw the Stones with some merch so a couple of t-shirts were bought. To be honest, I haven’t worn them all that much in the intervening years but recently band merch is somehow now a trend! So, here’s my take on it. It’s easy to pair a band tee with skinny jeans, booties & a leather jacket for a rocker chick look but I wanted to do something different & show you how versatile they really are. So, tucked into a white denim maxi skirt it went!

Personally I think everyone could do with at least one band t-shirt. Why? First of all, try to buy it from an actual performance – be a good person & go out there & see some live music! Having been a musician for a long time now, it always makes me so happy to see people in the audience, buying CDs or t-shirts. Support some local music or, go & see that band that’s touring! Either way, get some more music in your life & get a band tee in your wardrobe!
